Obituary for Yu Tchen Yang楊府梁玉珍夫人

Yu Tchen Yang楊府梁玉珍夫人
Mrs. Yu-Tchen Yang passed away on January 16, 2014. She was born on December, 1912 in Shanxi province, China. She was 103 years. There were 18 presidents from Taft to Obama during her life span. She just avoided the bound feet practice in China after the Chinese revolution. It was truly a life with amazing change and challenges.
She was married to Tseng Yang when she was 19 in her hometown, China. She had seven brothers (deceased) in China. She moved to Beijing with her husband after they were married. Then they moved many times to Sichuan, Vietnam, Kwangxi, other provinces and then to Hong Kong in 1949 with her three children.
In 1969, she immigrated to USA and lived in Roanoke, VA for a few years before moving to Philadelphia. Since then, she traveled to many places with her husband and children. She lived in Philadelphia until her death.
She was a devoted wife, to her doting husband, caring for him and three children for all those years. She was a simple but kind lady. She was cheerful and caring. She loved her family and enjoyed time with her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Since many of her family members live far away, she was most happy whenever she saw them.
In the last few years, she particularly enjoyed being in the Grace Day Care senior center where she made many friends. With amazing effort, and a heartfelt desire, she made a trip to China when she was 100 years old.
Her husband was deceased before her. She was survived by three children, two sons, Wan Ling and Kong Ling, and one daughter Lena Lee Yang. She had seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
In lieu of flowers, we have established a website in her honor to carry out her wishes to assist her relatives in her home village in China. While we have the luxury of education, running water, and heat, they often go without. The link to the foundation which is www.yutchenyang.org
As Grandma often said, celebrate always with your loved ones, be happy and healthy...and always dress warm....
We The Yang appreciates for your support, encouragement, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
