MOY
Alice (nee Kee), passed on to eternal rest on December 23. She was a model of self-sufficiency to her daughter Carolyn Moy, daughter Beverly Hahn and son-in-law Fred. Over the years she was blessed to enjoy many kindnesses extended to her by her sister Eveline Chin and late brother-in-law Herman, her sister-in-law Betty Kee, and her nephews.
She exemplified quiet determination. As a child of the Depression, her family could not afford to further her education after high school so when her younger daughter headed off to college, Alice began her journey of higher education by taking college night school courses while working full-time during the day. Continuing on this path for eight years, she attained her goal of earning a bachelor's degree in finance from LaSalle University.
Alice retired from Independence Blue Cross where she had risen to management. She was also proud of her community service work at On Lok House, a residential facility for seniors where she helped to oversee its construction and later served for over two decades as President of its Board of Directors.
To honor her wishes, following cremation her ashes will be interred in Boston, MA in her parents' family plot.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation between 6 - 8 pm on Tuesday, December 30 at the Choi Funeral Home, 247 N. 12th Street, Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Chinese Christian Church and Center, 1101 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. For the convenience of those of wish to donate, pre-addressed envelopes for donations with the church's address are available in the lobby next to a basket. Donations can be placed in the basket today or sent at later at a time of the donor's choosing.
