Obituary for Hak S. Li 李克修先生

Hak S. Li 李克修先生
Beloved husband and father, Hak Saw Li, passed away peacefully in his home on January 29th, 2017 after a 9 month battle with Leukemia. He was granted his angel wings at the age of 78. His final days were spent surrounded by family at home.

Hak Saw led a memorable life. He was born on May 25, 1938 in Waizhou, China and moved to Hong Kong where he met his future wife, Tor Tai Yip. They were married in 1972 and had four children together. In 1983, Hak Saw and his wife made the brave decision to leave Hong Kong for New York City in order to create better opportunities for their children. They raised their family together in Manhattan for 12 years before moving to Philadelphia to, once again, provide more opportunities for their children. Throughout his life, Hak Saw Li devoted himself to his children and to providing a better future for them.

Hak Saw had many interests and kept many hobbies, but perhaps none so close to his heart as botany. He found an inner peace growing and propagating a number of rare and exotic plants in his indoor garden. In addition, Hak Saw loved to raise exotic fish in his aquarium, cook authentic Cantonese dishes for his family, and play with his grandchildren. He remained physically active throughout his life by swimming and taking walks with his wife and mentally active by reading the daily Chinese newspaper.

Hak Saw is survived by his wife Tor Tai Yip-Li, his son Wai Cheung married to Shan Huang and their daughter Wingyi, and his three daughters; Lai Sha married to Bernard Allison with their son Jaiden, Lai Fan married to Sean Zhang with their son Logan, and Lai Yan married to Corey Barber with their two daughters Amelia and Cora.

Hak Saw was loved deeply by his family, is missed greatly, and will always be cherished.
