Obituary for 杨赞贤先生 Zanxian Yang

Mr. Yang Zanxian passed away peacefully at 6:22 in the afternoon on March 16, 2022, in
Philadelphia at the age of 83, surrounded by loved ones. In accordance with Mr. Yang's wishes,
the memorial services will be kept simple. Mr. Yang is survived by his wife, Chang Huirong, his
two sons, Binwei and Binyuan, and his daughter, Ye. He is also survived by his daughters-inlaw,
Peggy Jia Chen and Songshi Shang, his son-in-law, Oliver Yuliang Yao, his grandsons, John
Boda Yang and Dean Qingyang Yao, and his granddaughters, Joyce Boying Yang, Amy Botang
Yang, and Caroline Qingdi Yao.

Mr. Yang was born on October 25, 1938, in Lingbao County, Henan Province, China. With
humble beginnings, overcoming immense hardship in his youth, he became the first Peking
University graduate from Lingbao since the founding of People’s Republic of China. From 1965
to 1967, he was among the first batch of students studying in France sponsored by Chinese
government. Mr. Yang has been diligent in literature works all his life, and his calligraphy skill
is well known.

After Mr. Yang’s condition gradually deteriorated in 2019, many of his family relatives and
friends, especially his wife and daughter, showed a beautiful testimony of love, and he has
received the most loving care. Now that he is gone, thank you all for sharing our grief,
expressing your condolences, and saying goodbye to him!

Mr. Yang worked hard and went through hardships in his early years. He lived an
extraordinary life and had a great career. During his lifetime, he served as the general manager
of Xi'an Overseas Tourism Corporation and the president of Shaanxi Tourism Press, among
other posts.

Mr. Yang was devoted to his family and loved his wife of more than half a century, and all his
children and grandchildren. In the eyes of relatives and friends, he is a magnanimous,
generous, diligent, and hard-working person. His hearty laughter and kind face will always
remain in our hearts.

Our dear father, with the deep love from your family and the deep memory of your colleagues
and friends for you, may you rest in peace!
The memorial services for our father will be held at Choi Funeral Home.

我们亲爱的父亲, 杨赞贤先生, 因病医治无效, 于2022年3月17日6时22分在费城安详
离世, 享年83岁。他的离开给相濡以沫 55载的爱妻常惠荣、他挚爱的儿子杨滨渭、杨滨
源、女儿杨 晔,以及家人,儿媳陈佳、尚松实、女婿姚余梁、孙子杨博达、孙女杨博
英、杨博棠、外孙姚庆扬、外孙女姚庆笛 等,带来沉重的打击。

杨先生1938年10月25日出生于中国河南省灵宝县大王镇大王村。身世寒微,童年时期
饱受苦难,青年时期凭借着自强不息的精神与毅力,于1960年考入北京大学,1965年至
1967年,他是第一批政府资助的留法学生。杨先生一生勤于写作,文字功底造诣非浅,
书法集诸家妙笔,众所周知,无愧是灵宝建国以来第一位北大才子。

在父亲2019年病情逐渐恶化之后,他的众多亲友家人,尤其是妻子、女儿做了极美好的
爱的见证,父亲得到了最悉心的照顾、关爱。现在他走了,感谢大家和我们一起分担悲
痛,寄托哀思,和他做最后的告别!

父亲生前对家庭尽心尽责,与母亲同甘共苦、相亲相爱半个多世纪,教育有方、疼爱子
孙。他爽朗的笑声、善良慈祥的面容将永远留在我们儿孙心中。

父亲事业有为,生前曾任中国建筑工程部第五建筑工程局宣传处副处长、中国国际旅行社
西安分社副总经理、西安海外旅游总公司总经理、陕西旅游出版社社长、中共陕西省委党
史研究室期刊部主任。

在亲朋好友的眼里,父亲是一个坦荡、宽厚、勤奋、努力的人。作为家人,我们无法用简
单的言语去总结父亲的一生,他的一生是不平凡的一生、是伟大的一生。现在他息了地上
的劳苦,愿父亲在天之灵, 保佑所有人平安、健康。愿父亲带着家人对他的深深的爱,
以及同事、朋友们对他的深切怀念,一路走好。
