Obituary for 麥照倫先生 Lou T. Mac

It is with great heartache and sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved Lou. Lou passed away at Jefferson Methodist Hospital on October 29th surrounded by his wife and family. He had been admitted to the hospital with complications from pneumonia caused by Covid three weeks earlier. With his wife, family, and friends by his side, Lou fought every step of the way, but ultimately succumbed to his illness.

Our family immigrated to Philadelphia in 1979 from a Chinese community in Vietnam. Like most Asian immigrant families, in hopes of building a better life for our family, our parents worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for all of us and overcame countless obstacles to achieve that. Because of that sacrifice and dedication, our family successfully forged a new life. Lou was 7 years old at the time.

For those who knew Lou, amongst his family and friends, we could always count on him to make us laugh and he always brought smiles to our faces. He was witty and had a wonderful sense of humor that always made everyone feel better. Lou had a welcoming spirit that brought all of us closer together and despite his passing, we know that he will continue to strengthen our family bond. Lou left us too early, but he will forever be in our thoughts, on our minds, and in our hearts.

Lou is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Sengprasert Mac and their faithful dog, Peluche. He also leaves behind our grieving mother, Lien Nhat Mac, his two brothers Quan and San, and loving sister, Talia. His beautiful nieces Olivia and Madison and his devoted nephews Justin and Corey. They miss Lou so much already. Deep in our hearts, while it is so difficult to lose him, with a small sense of comfort and solace, we know that Lou is embracing our father, who passed away 7 years ago, and they are now enjoying a beer together and catching up on lost time. We know that together they will watch over us and make sure that we will continue to be safe and taken care of.

Friends and family are invited to visitation and services at the Choi Funeral Home on Sunday, November 7th from 1-6PM and Monday, November 8th from 8-10AM, followed by the burial at Forest Hills Cemetery.
